Blake Shinn ready for first US rides

Thursday 8 June 2017, 8:10am

Blake Shinn has been booked for five rides for his first meeting in the United States.

The Sydney jockey, who is based at Arlington Park in Chicago for his five-week stint, will ride at the track on Saturday.

After striking up an association with trainer Wesley Ward some years ago, Shinn jumped at the opportunity to ride in North America.

"I've always wanted to ride in America. I am sure I will learn a lot," Shinn told Thoroughbred Daily News.

"Though I'll only be here a short time, I know there are some fantastic riders here and I'll be looking to pick their brains and watch and absorb the American style and take as much away from my time here as I can."
