Weir fined $500 over another saddle mix-up

Wednesday 7 June 2017, 5:42pm

Darren Weir has been fined $500 following another saddle mix-up at Sandown.

Weir stable representative Darryn Murphy took the wrong saddle before the seventh event, resulting in the race running late.

Murphy was to collect the saddle of Dean Yendall who was riding St Franco in the Le Pines Funeral Handicap, but instead picked up the saddle of Craig Williams.

At the Sandown meeting on May 27, Weir was fined $3000 after two of his runners were presented in the mounting yard wearing incorrect saddlecloths, requiring them to be be resaddled.

The starter and his assistant picked up the error on that occasion when checking the brands of the horses against their saddlecloths.
