Bush apprentice in much-awaited city debut

Thursday 9 November 2017, 12:16pm

Boom country apprentice Zoe White will make a low-key debut in city Saturday racing on veteran Friendly Dragon at Doomben.

When based in Rockhampton, White was the state's leading apprentice last season with 80 winners mainly in central and northern Queensland.

White, who has ridden 120 winners, moved to Brisbane two months ago and has mainly been riding at the Gold Coast on Saturdays and at the midweek city meetings.

White won her first metropolitan standard race on Luna Fiore at an Ipswich midweek meeting two weeks ago.

Friendly Dragon, who is trained by Les Ross, will be having his second run back from a spell.

"He was well beaten first-up but he usually goes better at his second run back and there is some rain about which would suit him," Ross said.
