Lindsay Park's stable stalwart Extra Zero has been retired after a racing career spanning 109 starts.

The 11-year-old, trained by David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig at Lindsay Park, finished eighth in Sunday's Werribee Cup.

The stable announced the veteran's retirement on Monday.

"Our much loved stable favourite Extra Zero has run his last race," Lindsay Park Racing tweeted.

"The 11yo has retired healthy and completely sound after 109 starts, 7 wins, 33 placings and $1.75m earnings. Thanks for the memories Extra!"

Extra Zero made his debut at Caulfield in April 2009 in a handicap for two-year-olds and notched his first win later that month at his second start in the Listed Anzac Day Stakes at Flemington.

He finished second in the Victoria Derby during his spring campaign as a three-year-old while he also finished second in the Group One Australian Cup at Flemington in March, 2015 as a $101 chance when beaten in a photo finish by stablemate Spillway.

The gelding's last win came at his 100th start at Flemington in May.
