Suspension for Collett, out for 6 meetings

Saturday 16 December 2017, 6:55pm

Jockey Jason Collett has been suspended for six meetings after being found guilty of careless riding during the Inglis Nursery at Randwick.

Racing NSW stewards charged Collett after his mount Miss Invincible shifted out and caused interference to Rachel King and Let Me Sleep On It at the top of the straight.

Collett pleaded not guilty, arguing King has not established a run when the incident occurred.

Stewards disagreed and his ban was increased from five meetings to six because he has had five suspensions during the last 12 months.

The suspension starts on Wednesday and Collett is free to resume riding on December 31. He indicated he would appeal.

Let Me Sleep On It finished fourth behind the winner Irish Bet and Miss Invincible was 10th.

The suspension soured an otherwise profitable day for Collett after he roide Queenslander miler Crack Me Up to win the Group Two Villiers Stakes.
