Double and a suspension for Ben Thompson

Saturday 16 December 2017, 7:05pm

A winning Caulfield double for apprentice Ben Thompson has been soured by a 12-meeting careless riding suspension.

Thompson was successful on Saturday aboard Shoreham in the Clanbrooke Racing Handicap and Ozi Choice in the Ladbrokes Handicap but earned a careless riding ban aboard Written In Stone in the Moorookyle Park Handicap.

He pleaded not guilty to causing interference to Good Therapy, ridden by Ryusei Sakai, near the 300m mark.

"You were the master of your own destiny at the expense of Good Therapy," Racing Victoria chief steward Terry Bailey told Thompson.

Thompson said he was commited to the outside of Sacred Sham, ridden by Joshua Bryant.

His suspension starts after the Bendigo meeting on Sunday and he can return for the Sandown meeting on December 30.
