Tan Tat Diamond wins after two years away

Saturday 28 April 2018, 12:50pm

Promising sprinter Tan Tat Diamond beat a tendon injury for a second time when he won at his first start in nearly two years on Saturday.

Tan Tat Diamond ($19) sailed home late to beat Alaskan Wold ($6.50) by 1 3/4 lengths in the Brent Kielly Memorial Handicap (1050m).

It was Tan Tat's Diamond's first run since being unplaced at the Gold Coast on June 11, 2016.

The gelding won his first two starts when trained by Peter Moody but was then sold to Aquis Farms and sent to Queensland where he is now with trainer Steve O'Dea.

"He has had two tendon injuries. He was retired and sent out to Aquis Farms at Canungra but after some treatment and using the water walker we put him back into work," O'Dea said.

"He seems to be standing up to the work and we might push into the winter now. It is a real credit to the staff at Aquis for getting back to work."

O'Dea said Tan Tat Diamond had shown plenty of ability when first trained by him.

"We even ran him in a Group Three race so let is hope he stands up," O'Dea said.
