Godolphin winter up and running Brisbane

Saturday 28 April 2018, 3:15pm

The powerful Goldolphin stable opened its winter carnival account in Brisbane when Marsupial won at Doomben on Saturday.

Jockey Jim Byrne turned in a near perfect ride to get Marsupial ($2.60) home by a half length to Oneness ($14) with a short neck to Snitz ($5) in the Three-Year-Old Plate (1350m).

Godolphin general manager Vin Cox said the stable had always had a good opinion of Marsupial and hoped the winter would give the gelding a chance to prove it.

"Marsupial was highly rated by us as a two-year-old but he has a few problems. It was good to see him win a race in style," Cox said.

He said trainer James Cummings would sit down and work out the rest of the winter fro Marsupial.
