Gary Moore revels in link to So You Think

Thursday 3 May 2018, 4:54pm

Gary Moore marvelled at So You Think's exploits from afar while he was based in Macau, and now the trainer has a closer connection to the prolific Group One winner.

Moore will introduce two-year-old colt Brilliant Mind to racing on his home track at Rosehill, the same venue where So You Think made a winning start to his illustrious career in 2009.

So You Think went on to win 10 Group One races in Australia, Ireland and England before being retired to stud in 2012 after amassing more than $8 million prize money.

"I admired him when he was a racehorse. I love the breed. He's a great sire so it's great to finally have one," Moore said.

A $155,000 yearling at the Magic Millions sale in Adelaide, Brilliant Mind has had two barrier trials as a lead-in to the TAB Rewards Handicap (1100m).

He was the $34 outsider in the field of 10 with the TAB on Thursday.

"He's worked well. He looks well and I think he'll run well but I think you'll find he'll be a better horse next time in when we probably geld him," he said.

Moore had nominated Brilliant Mind for the Group One J J Atkins (1600m) at Doomben on June 9 but said there was no pressure on the juvenile to get to Brisbane.

"Once he turns three I think he'll be a real nice horse and I think he's going to be better over a bit further too," he said.

The Tim Martin-trained filly Green ($31) is the other newcomer in a market led by Godolphin's maiden winner Roosevelt ($2.60).
