Trainer John Thompson hopes to retain an association with outstanding filly Peron after her impending sale.
Peron, the $2.60 favourite, made it five wins from six starts at Doomben on Saturday when she defeated Tax Evader ($18) by a long neck to win Novotel Brisbane Airport Handicap (1350m).
The filly and the rest Nathan Tinkler's Patinack Farm racing team are scheduled to go under the hammer at the Magic Millions sales at the Gold Coast on June 7, the day before the Stradbroke Handicap.
When asked if he would like to remain the trainer of Peron beyond the sale, Thompson said: "Most definitely."
"She's a high quality filly who's only going to get better."
Thompson said he is likely to branch out on his own as a racehorse trainer in the next few weeks and has been approached to move to China.
"The China Horse Club are going to have a race meeting in September and they've approached me to prepare a team of horses," he said.
"That is a possibility of happening. But we'll have to see how things pan out in the next couple of weeks."
Thompson believes Peron can measure up to black-type company.
"You can make a case for her that she should be unbeaten," he said.
"She was taking on the older horses today and she's full of promise,"
Jockey Michael Cahill said Peron was ridden out of her "comfort zone" but was impressed with the filly's determination in the straight.
