Bill and Symon Wilde fined $12,000

Wednesday 5 June 2013, 3:29pm

Co-trainers Bill and Symon Wilde have been fined $12,000 over a positive swab from one of their horses after it won a race at Warrnambool.

The trainers, who work in partnership at Warrnambool, pleaded guilty to a breach of the racing rules at a Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board hearing in Melbourne on Wednesday.

A post-race urine sample taken from Great Lane after it won a maiden on March 4 detected the prohibited substances phenylbutazone and its metabolite oxyphenbutazone, a non steroidal anti-inflammatory.

Great Lane was disqualified from its win.
