Frankel's owner Prince Khalid Abdullah has paid a personal tribute to Sir Henry Cecil following the trainer's death on Tuesday at the age of 70.
Abdullah and Cecil enjoyed one of the strongest relationships in racing with the owner standing by Cecil throughout his period in the doldrums in the early part of the last decade.
Cecil produced plenty of big winners for the Saudi prince over the years, not least of all Frankel who retired after a 14-race unbeaten career at the end of 2012.
Abdullah hailed Cecil as inspirational after the master of Warren Place lost his battle with stomach cancer.
"It was with great sadness that I learnt of the death of Henry," Abdullah said in a statement to Press Association Sport.
"His life is a remarkable story which has inspired so many.
"His genius and compassion, especially in the training of Frankel, was clear to see. Both their names will be indelibly linked.
"Above all, he was a great personal friend."
While 10-time Group One winner Frankel was the best horse Abdullah had with Cecil, the likes of Midday, who scored on multiple occasions at the highest level, also provided the pair with plenty of success.
Other notable Abdullah runners to emerge from Warren Place included dual Champion Stakes winner Twice Over, 1993 Derby winner Commander In Chief, 1000 Guineas victor Wince and Reams Of Verse, who won the 1997 Oaks.
