Mr Make Believe out for back-to-back wins

Friday 14 June 2013, 5:10pm

An unbeaten Moonee Valley record for Group-winning sprinter Sea Lord is not enough to have him favourite against proven wet-tracker Mr Make Believe on Saturday.

The Peter Moody-trained Mr Make Believe is the $2.50 favourite to back up a last-start Caulfield win on a dead track with a second-up victory in the Slickpix Handicap (1200m).

His opposition includes the resuming Stephen Brown-trained Sea Lord who has won all four of his Moonee Valley starts including the Group Two Australia Stakes in January.

Mr Make Believe has won 10 from 23 and has impressive statistics in the wet with a slow track win and four wins from five attempts on heavy ground.

The six-year-old, who'll be ridden by apprentice Jake Duffy, is set to get conditions to his liking on Saturday with Moonee Valley rated in the slow range on Friday.

"He's trained on nicely and he's had three weeks to get over that first-up run," Moody said.

"He handles the sting out of the ground but he's pretty competitive at any time of the year. He's stakes placed and with Jake's claim on Saturday that will help."
