Brown extends Singapore stay after Europe

Tuesday 25 June 2013, 5:42pm

Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Corey Brown has been rewarded for his impressive Kranji form with another Singapore contract.

Brown will ride in Singapore on a mini contract extension until July 14 before he returns for a four-month stay from September 1.

In between, the Sydney premiership-winning jockey will ride in France.

Brown left for Singapore after the Sydney autumn carnival and his strike rate since arriving has been up with the best.

The 37-year-old has ridden 14 winners from 87 rides, making him Kranji's third best strike-rate rider behind Joao Moreira and Manoel Nunes.

Brown, who has ridden more than 1600 career winners, will head to Europe after riding at the Singapore Derby meeting.

He rode 43 Sydney winners for the season before heading overseas in late April.

United States-based David Flores will join Brown in Singapore.

Rated one of the best jockeys in America, Flores has won more than 3500 races and has enjoyed international success for the powerful Godolphin stable.
