Dandino camp targets America before Cup

Wednesday 26 June 2013, 11:43am

Trainer Marco Botti will consider a crack at the American St Leger with Dandino after he finished second behind the ill-fated Thomas Chippendale in the Hardwicke Stakes on Saturday.

Botti sees the six-year-old, owned by Darren Dance's Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock, as the ideal type for the Melbourne Cup, but another overseas raid at Arlington in August is also on his mind.

"He ran a very good race and we were very pleased with him," said the Newmarket handler.

"We'll meet with the owners this week to discuss his options which include the American St Leger, the owners won it last year with Jakkalberry.

"It will either be there or Newmarket (Princess of Wales's Stakes).

"His main aim remains Melbourne. Possibly the Caulfield Cup, but definitely the Melbourne Cup."
