Multiple Group One-winning jockey Larry Cassidy is set to return to race riding soon after recovering from a fractured leg.
Cassidy plans to ride trackwork from Saturday and then take race rides at the Sunshine Coast on Friday week.
He has not ridden since August 7 when what he thought was a minor injury was aggravated.
"I originally apparently had a stress fracture in my leg from a barrier mishap on July 21 at the Sunshine Coast," Cassidy said.
"It was a bit sore but I kept riding for nearly three weeks."
Cassidy said X-rays showed the stress fracture had developed into an 88mm wide crack in his left tibia.
"Luckily it didn't break all the way through or I would have had a badly broken leg instead of a fracture," he said.
"I had to rest it and I have only just got back to exercise."
The winner of more than 2800 races Cassidy hopes to link with top Brisbane galloper Order Again in the gelding's Melbourne campaign.
Order Again made an eye-catching return to racing with a fifth at Doomben on Saturday.
Doctors have given another injured jockey, Skye Bogenhuber, the green light to resume riding in jump-outs and barrier trials.
She has not ridden since March when she suffered a small bleed on her brain and concussion.
