Edmonds in hospital after track accident

Monday 11 November 2019, 6:00pm

Leading Queensland trainer Toby Edmonds is in a Gold Coast hospital after being trampled by a runaway horse on Monday.

Edmonds' son and co-trainer, Trent Edmonds, said his father was knocked out when the horse hit him.

"Dad tried to stop a horse which had got away but it collected him and knocked him to the ground," he said.

"He was unconscious and we got him to hospital where they have been conducting tests.

"He was originally at the Pindara Hospital but they moved him to the Gold Coast Uni Hospital because the specialist was there."

He said it was far too early to give a full diagnosis of his father's injuries.

Team Edmonds has had 34 winners this season including Sparkling Facet who won the last race at Lismore on Monday, one of five winners at the meeting for stable jockey Ryan Maloney.
