Racing Queensland has continued to boost its winter carnival with the announcement of a new $200,000 race and QTIS bonus payments on all races.
The new $200,000 QTIS Gold Jewel will be run over 1300 metres on Queensland Oaks Day at Eagle Farm.
It will be for QTIS registered horses, giving Queensland owners and breeders a further boost ahead of the yearling sales season starting next week.
RQ has already announced new races in the $1.5 million Q22 (2200m) and the $150,000 Pam O'Neill (1350m).
RQ's Corporate Affairs manager Mary Collier said for the first time the winter carnival would include five races worth $1 million or more.
"The carnival is starting to really take shape and we're looking forward to adding the QTIS Gold Jewel," Collier said.
"In addition to the QTIS Gold Jewel, there's more than $1.7 million in QTIS sales vouchers available across the carnival, along with a further $340,000 in breeders' bonuses, demonstrating why we believe QTIS is the best thoroughbred incentive scheme."
Brisbane Racing Club chief executive Tony Partridge said the Eagle Farm component of the carnival had been transformed in 2020.
"This track has been racing in superb fashion since its 2018 renovation," Partridge said.
"It's ready to again host three consecutive Saturdays of Group One racing in May and June."
