Silver River continued his meteoric rise through the restricted ranks and provided Michael Cahill with a winning treble at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
Backed from $21 into $13, Silver River stormed home to win the XXXX Gold Handicap (1600m) by a head from Casino Card ($3.80) with Got Unders ($9) a long head away third.
Despite being among the tailenders on the home turn, Cahill was confident Silver River would make up the leeway in the straight.
"He was always travelling smoothly through the ground even though he was a fair way back on the turn," Cahill said.
"I thought I was in the right part of the track when I made my run and he was pretty determined at the finish."
Cahill said Silver River was typical of the offspring of his sire Clang.
"He's a lovely mover and like most of the Clangs he likes that sort of going," he said.
"He might be slightly above average."
Silver River is owned and trained at Beaudesert by Charlie Weston who also bred the gelding.
The three-year-old won a non-TAB Beaudesert Maiden and an Ipswich Class One race before his Eagle Farm victory.
Silver River gave Cahill victories in the last three races at Eagle Farm following wins by Benny's Buttons and Lady Echelon.
He is a clear leader on the Brisbane jockeys' premiership with 83 wins.
