Dry weather in Sydney has prompted premier Brisbane trainer Robert Heathcote to send a team of three south to run at Randwick on Saturday.
Soon-to-be-retired mare Funtantes will be joined by Griffon in the July Sprint (1200m) while Hidden Kisses will contest a benchmark 85 race.
Heathcote scratched Funtantes from Eagle Farm on Saturday due to the wet track and would like nothing more than to see her go out a winner.
"All three are in the same boat. They are looking for drier tracks," Heathcote said.
"For six months up here we've had continuous wet tracks. This seems as if it will be Funtantes' last preparation and the July Sprint looks like a good race for her.
"She gets in quite well for a Group Two winner and we've booked apprentice Lester Grace to ride her and Brenton Avdulla for Griffon.
"Both ran really well last start and Griffon has had an unlucky campaign."
Griffon ran a short neck second to Doubtfilly in the Listed Ascot Handicap (1200m) at Eagle Farm on July 6 with Funtantes fifth, just half a length from the winner.
As a two-year-old, Funtantes won the 2009 Group Two Champagne Classic and as she nears the end of her career, her earnings stand at more than $660,000.
There were 15 entries for the July Sprint including recent Ramornie Handicap winner Youthful Jack and third-placed Pentasia.
Heathcote's other runner Hidden Kisses has been dual nominated for a 1200m and 1400m race but the shorter option is the most likely.
Gold Coast trainer Maryann Thexton has covered all bases with Merryanna, nominating the mare for two races at Doomben and two in Sydney, the July Sprint and the 1200m benchmark 85.
The Randwick meeting, the second last of the season for Sydney, will host two races for two-year-olds, one over 1300 metres and the other 1600.
