Group One winner Zabeelionaire continues to frustrate his trainer Leon Corstens.
Zabeelionaire journeyed to Queensland looking for a dry track during the winter carnival only to find most of them under water.
And his fortunes haven't improved since his return to Victoria.
Corstens thought he had Zabeelionaire ready to resume racing at Moonee Valley on Saturday only for the horse to injure a hind leg after kicking out while exercising on a dry walker at Corstens' property at Kilmore on Tuesday.
"This horse is determined not to run," Corstens said.
Zabeelionaire hasn't won since claiming the South Australian Derby in May last year.
"It's been very frustrating for the owners," he said.
"I think he's my nemesis at the moment."
He said Zabeelionaire would need a week at least to recover from the injury.
Corstens' other nomination at the Valley, Alpha Proxima, is a certain starter with the seven-year-old gelding to be ridden by Dwayne Dunn in a 1200-metre handicap.
Alpha Proxima was scratched from Caulfield last week after drawing the outside barrier.
Corstens' stable star Commanding Jewel is back in work after an extensive spell.
She missed the autumn and winter carnivals because of a joint injury.
"She worked over half a mile this morning and I'm very pleased with her," Corstens said.
"She seems to be coming along very nicely.
"I was thinking about running her in the Cockram Stakes but it might be coming up a just little too quick for her."
The main spring target for the Thousand Guineas winner remains the Cox Plate, a race in which Corstens has never had a runner.
