Stewards have added to Brenton Avdulla's pain of losing a Warwick Farm race on protest by suspending the young rider.
Avdulla pleaded guilty to careless riding on Loch Leven, the Chris Waller-trained galloper who lost the Australian Turf Club Handicap in the stewards' room on Wednesday.
Loch Leven defeated Strike Me Lucky by a neck but stewards changed the result when they agreed with apprentice rider Rachael Murray that her mount had its rightful running denied in the straight.
Avdulla allowed Loch Leven to shift in when Strike Me Lucky was about to take a run between horses, causing Murray to check her mount out of contention.
He has been suspended for five meetings and he will be out of the saddle from Sunday until August 15.
Avdulla will start his suspension after Saturday's Rosehill meeting where his mounts include the well-performed stayer Ironstein in the Listed Winter Challenge.
