Apprentice Luke Tarrant celebrated his first city win aboard Tisani Tomso at Doomben on Wednesday but finished the day on the wrong side of stewards.
Tarrant was suspended for nine meetings for causing interference to four runners on the home turn in the Gallopers Sports Club Handicap in which he rode eventual third placegetter Call Me Rusty.
One of the chief sufferers was Palpitate who stormed home to finish an unlucky second to Candente, beaten a nose.
Tarrant's suspension starts after Sunday's Sunshine Coast meeting. He will resume riding on August 22.
He has also been ordered by stewards to attend the Riders Review Panel at Racing Queensland to determine whether he should retain his licence to ride in the city.
Wednesday's suspension was Tarrant's second from the past three city meetings at which he has ridden and his sixth since December.
