Peter Morgan has a reputation for rehabilitating injury-plagued horses and the Whittlesea-based trainer's two entries at Caulfield on Saturday probably fit that bill.
Amah Rock in the Listed Regal Roller Stakes (1200m) and Oasis Bloom in the Group Three Cockram Stakes (1200m) are both coming back from injury and long spells.
At his most recent start at Flemington in December, Amah Rock chipped a bone in his knee which ruled him out of the autumn.
Jockey Craig Williams rode him in a barrier trial on Monday at Cranbourne but didn't push the five-year-old gelding too hard.
"He's in pretty good shape now and we're hoping for a forward showing with him on Saturday," Morgan said.
"He's been an unlucky horse. We've had three or four seconds in stakes races."
Amah Rock is a $4.80 chance with TAB fixed odds to break through for his first black type win on Saturday.
Oasis Bloom, a $19 chance for the Cockram, has had her share of bad luck as well.
She has not raced since her fine fourth in the Group One Myer Stakes in November in which she also suffered a bone chip which forced her to sit out the autumn.
But Morgan says Oasis Bloom is back to somewhere near her best physical shape.
"She's in pretty good order at the moment," he said.
Morgan has nominated Oasis Bloom for the Caulfield Cup (2400m) and while the mare is untested beyond 1700 metres he plans to give her every opportunity to prove her stamina, and class.
"I'm not sure if she's good enough or can stay that distance but we're trying to head there if we can," he said.
