Alinghi's half-brother wins on debut

Friday 23 August 2013, 5:41pm

A half-brother to former star filly Alinghi has made a winning debut at Geelong on Friday.

Oceanus, a three-year-old son of More Than Ready out of Alinghi's dam Oceanfast, stepped out for his debut in a 1000m maiden on the Synthetic track and sprinted through along the rail in the straight to win by a length.

The colt, who is among nominations for the Caulfield Guineas, is trained by Anthony Freedman.

Freedman's brother Lee trained Alinghi to four Group One wins including the 2004 Blue Diamond and Thousand Guineas, and the 2005 Newmarket Handicap.

The win by Oceanus was in contrast to the midfield debut by another sibling of a superstar, Makybe Diva's half brother Rodway, earlier this week.
