Apprentice Jordan Childs has landed a break-through city win at Sandown on Wednesday.
The 17-year-old is the son of retired jockey Greg Childs who partnered champions Sunline and Northerly to major race wins during his successful career.
Jordan Childs had his first race ride in July last year and was thrilled to bring up his maiden city win on the Mike Moroney-trained Surpass in the Slickpix Handicap (2100m).
"First city winner, and especially to do it for Mike, it's really good," Childs said.
Childs is quite tall for a jockey but said he watched his weight closely and was "in it for the long run".
Moroney was pleased to have provided Childs with a win he would never forget.
"Greg and I have always been good friends and we had a lot of success together, so to give Jordan his first winner in town is terrific," Moroney said.
"I've been watching him ride and he's riding terrific at the moment."
