Speediness returns with Bobbie Lewis upset

Saturday 7 September 2013, 5:26pm

A trainer with two horses in his stable upset his more experienced peers in a Bobbie Lewis Quality win which might encourage a few more owners to entrust their horses to him.

Colin Scott recently moved from Pakenham to Caulfield and he says the change has turned around his six-year-old gelding Speediness ($20), who stormed down the outside to beat Temple of Boom ($12) by a length with Albrecht ($8) a nose away third.

Speediness showed his class in May, winning the Scone Cup.

"The horse has improved significantly even in his trackwork from Scone to this preparation," Scott said.

"He was ready to win first-up but there is definitely a lot of improvement left in him."

Speediness is now primed to run in the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes in three weeks, followed by the Toorak Handicap - both Group One races - before completing his spring in the Group Two Waterford Crystal Mile on Cox Plate Day.

Scott said he said he hoped the Bobbie Lewis win would help send a few more clients towards his stable.
