Joe Pride once studied psychology but the trainer insists he is as guilty as anyone of thinking too much about the best horse in his stable.

Rain Affair continues his campaign in the Group Two Sebring Sprint (1400m) at Rosehill on Saturday and Pride has been on edge since acceptances came out.

"I'm on the iPhone all the time checking markets and the weather. I'm always checking the weather," Pride said.

"It's obsessive compulsive ... it would send some people around the bend I tell you.

"But the day it stops is the day I stop caring or I haven't got a good horse so I'm not complaining."

Pride has few concerns about Rain Affair being at his top for Rosehill despite a breakneck tempo contributing to a last-start Warwick Stakes defeat.

"He's bounced back off these hard runs before so hopefully he can do it again," Pride said.

Rain Affair is a $2.50 favourite in a race where the Chris Waller-trained Boban has been backed to beat him.

It's a betting move that doesn't surprise Pride.

"The market tells me Boban is the main danger and Rain Affair is giving him six-and-a-half kilos," he said.

But that's about as much statistical data as Pride wants to absorb before the Sebring.

"I sort of over-analyse Rain Affair and I don't know what to think half the time," he said.

That's why Pride is banking on his horsemanship to win out with a sprinter who has been recognised as Sydney's best without claiming a Group One victory.

"With him what I'm always looking forward to is the contest," he said. "Get me there Saturday with the horse in the right frame of mind and I think he can do the job."

Rain Affair is the obvious chance for Pride on Saturday in a team which also includes Brave Soul (Sheraco Stakes) and Green Beret and Acropolis in benchmark races.
