The rail will be moved out three metres for Cox Plate day at Moonee Valley, a metre further than originally planned.
After acceptances were taken on Wednesday, the Moonee Valley Racing Club made the announcement in the interests of producing an even surface.
The club is conducting the Manikato Stakes meeting on Friday night with the rail true and had originally decided on a two metre shift the following day so there would be no impact on field sizes.
Racecourse and Facilities Manager, Martin Synan said with field sizes no longer a factor, moving the rail out to three metres would allow an even surface for Saturday's meeting.
