First Foals for Son of Fastnet Rock

Thursday 25 October 2012, 10:02am

Therock stood his debut year in Western Australia before being secured by Bombora Downs on the Mornington Peninsula and being offered to Victorian Breeders. Therock has received a resounding vote of confidence in that a significant number of breeders have sent their mares from WA for a return visit to Therock. Victorian Breeders who inspect Therock are effusive in their praise for the horse. He is simply a magnificent type.

Therock is a stunning looking son of the reigning Champion Australian Sire and was sold for $370,000 as a weanling from Fastnet Rock’s first crop.

Such was the dominance of his two consecutive wins as a three year old; Therock was the ruling favourite for the NZ Guineas with trainer Gerald Ryan believing the horse was set to become Fastnet Rock’s first Group 1 winner.

Regrettably, a soft tissue injury sustained during his second Rosehill win prevented him from travelling.

Mares booked in to Therock in 2012 include a full sister to G1 winner Popsy and dam of G1 winner Rock’n’Pop (Fastnet Rock) and herself a producer of a stakes placegetter; a half sister to G3 Saab Quality winner Maybe Better; a half sister to Listed Winner All Friared Up and many other quality mares.

Therock represents outstanding value at $3850 with a Flexi Free Return.
