The Thousand Guineas credentials of some of Melbourne's most promising fillies will be put to the test in Saturday's Prelude at Caulfield.
In what John McArdle believes is a wide-open contest, the trainer will have last-start Flemington winner Miracle To Me in the Group Two race over 1400m.
Miracle To Me will be up against Politeness, Gregers and Kiss A Rose who are all high up in betting behind top Sydney filly Guelph for next month's Thousand Guineas.
The Mornington trainer rates Miracle To Me one of "seven or eight" chances in the race.
"It's a very even field," McArdle said.
"If you go through the form you could make a decent argument for most of the fillies in the race."
McArdle won this race with Hollow Bullet in 2004 and hopes to do it again with Miracle To Me who surprised him with her last-to-first victory at Flemington over 1100m.
"We thought she'd run well but just thought there might be a couple quicker than her," McArdle said. "It was a pleasant surprise."
McArdle said he had always believed Miracle To Me would be better suited when she got over further.
He is keen to give Miracle To Me her chance to progress to the Thousand Guineas.
"They are only three once and as long as she's running competitively we'll keep heading that way," he said.
The Robert Smerdon-trained Politeness is favourite for Saturday's race on the back of two easy provincial wins while Kiss A Rose and Gregers return to fillies company after contesting the Danehill Stakes against the boys.
