Dolly Dolly booked an interstate trip after she foiled a plunge on runner-up Hour Of Peril at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
Dolly Dolly ($9.50) was brought with a well-timed finish by apprentice Brooke Richardson to win the Nestea Iced Tea Handicap (1500m) by a head.
In the process she upstaged a spectacular plunge launched on Hour Of Peril who was backed from $7 into $4 favouritism.
Hour Of Peril is trained at the Gold Coast by John Nikolic, the brother of controversial jockey Danny Nikolic.
Dolly Dolly's trainer Brian Smith said the mare would have her next start in the Group Three Angst Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on October 12.
Smith then will take Dolly Dolly to Melbourne where the Group Two Matriarch Stakes (2000m) at Flemington on November 9 will be her main goal.
Richardson has ridden Dolly Dolly in most of her work this campaign and was thrilled to be given the ride.
"Every morning I've been egging B J (Smith) on to ride this mare and I was over the moon when he said I could ride her today," she said.
Earlier, trainer Barry Baldwin called to a halt to the campaign of in-form stayer Flying Home after he clinched a winning hat-trick in the Glaceau Vitaminwater Handicap (2106m).
"I know it's hard to turn out a winning horse but I wouldn't mind giving him a break now and look at a race like the Bernborough Handicap early in his next preparation," he said.
"He's got to have a spell at some point and he's done a great job because he's had quite a few starts this time in."
Chris Munce has ridden Flying Home at his past three starts and was keen to take up the front-running role aboard the five-year-old.
"I think the key to him, apart from the dry tracks is, making it a good gallop and not a sit and sprint," he said.
"He's out of a Zabeel mare and the breed are known as on speed, one-paced gallopers."
