Robert Heathcote says it's not an afterthought to run Magic In Motion at Doomben on Saturday.
Magic In Motion impressed Heathcote with her win at Eagle Farm so the trainer gave her the green light to back up in the Mount Franklin Sparking Handicap (1350m).
"This race is a lovely lead-up for another fillies and mares race in a fortnight over a mile and think that trip is going to prove to be her pet distance," Heathcote said.
"Then the field fell away at acceptance time so it suits me to run her and I'm very happy with the way she's progressed since she won last Saturday."
Michael Cahill, who was successful aboard the daughter of Magic Albert last week, has switched to rival runner Anna Lizzie who is seeking her fifth win in a row.
Heathcote has engaged Vinnie Colgan, a multiple Group One winning jockey in New Zealand, to ride Magic In Motion.
"Vinnie has the runs on the board as far as big race wins are concerned and he's been putting in the hard yards at trackwork," Heathcote said.
Colgan moved to Brisbane from South Australia last month but is no stranger to riding winners in Brisbane.
He forged a successful combination with New Zealand trainer Roger James when they plundered Brisbane winter carnivals during the 1990s with feature race winners Melora and Cronus.
During her three-year-old season, Melora won the 1998 Doomben Roses before running third in the Queensland Oaks and second in the Queensland Derby.
She returned the following year to win the weight-for-age Hollindale Cup (1800m) at the Gold Coast on the same day Colgan rode stablemate Cronus to win the Prime Minister's Cup.
While Melora and Cronus were high profile winners for Colgan he insists Zonda, also trained by James, is the best horse he has ridden.
Zonda won the 1997 New Zealand Derby by nearly five lengths then missed his four and five-year-old seasons through injury before returning as a six-year-old to win at Group One level.
