Williams reunites with Flying Snitzel

Friday 4 October 2013, 4:36pm

Flying Snitzel was an impressive winner at her only Flemington start and jockey Craig Williams is looking for a repeat when she returns to the track on Saturday.

Williams reunites with the mare in the Group Two Blazer Stakes (1410m) and hopes she can turn in a similar performance to the Kewney Stakes in March when she stormed home from back in the field to beat Norzita who went on to win two Group One races and the title of the season's best three-year-old filly.

"She was ultra-impressive that day at Flemington but unfortunately she didn't continue that on into Sydney in the autumn," Williams said.

Williams also rode Flying Snitzel in her next two starts in Sydney after the Kewney victory but the Gerald Ryan-trained galloper was unplaced in the Coolmore Classic and Carbine Club Stakes.

Flying Snitzel resumed with a fifth in the Sheraco Stakes first-up at Rosehill three weeks ago and Williams is looking forward to getting back on the mare in the Blazer.

"I'm hoping she brings that same form back again because she was second-up last time (when she won the Kewney) after having a start in Sydney," Williams said.

"It's a similar preparation. I haven't been on her back but the stable is really happy. If she can bring that same form, she's going to be very competitive."

Flying Snitzel is on the third line of betting with the John Thompson-trained mare Peron favourite.

Peron beat Flying Snitzel home last start in the Sheraco Stakes when she finished strongly for second to Driefontein.
