What the jockeys said after the running of Saturday's $2.5 million Group One Caulfield Cup.
Nick Hall (Fawkner) 1st: "He is such a special horse to me and they've prepared him to the absolute second."
Craig Williams (Dandino) 2nd: "We needed a bit more luck from barrier 16 getting into a position. At the top of the straight we played percentages and he was great. Apart from not winning, he was brilliant."
James McDonald (Dear Demi) 3rd: "She ran super. She had it won half-way down the straight, I couldn't believe it. She got a beautiful run in the race and got all the splits."
Damien Oliver (Jet Away) 4th: "It was an extraordinary run. He just wouldn't settle."
Nash Rawiller (Royal Descent) 5th: "I'm not making excuses but for her the track was a fraction hard. She felt like the winner and dead-set let down to half her potential."
Hugh Bowman (Mr Moet) 6th: "He had his chance. I had to use a bit of fuel going past the winning post to get a spot but he had his chance."
Jim Cassidy (Hawkspur) 7th: "Had to go back from the alley. They strung out which put me further back than I wanted to be but if you look at his run, it was pretty good to come from where he has come from. I won't be swapping him (in the Melbourne Cup)."
Glen Boss (Silent Achiever) 8th: "She was weak. She presented like the winner and I was surprised she didn't go on with it in the last 200 metres."
Steven Arnold (Kelinni) 9th: "He ran a good race. I got a bit of momentum up on the corner then had to change course which just stopped his momemtum a bit."
Craig Newitt (Moriarty) 10th: "He went enormous. He had to sprint from the back of the field from the top of the straight. Another furlong he probably runs in the top five."
Dwayne Dunn (Mr O'Ceirin) 11th: "He ran well."
Michael Walker (Tuscan Fire) 12th: "Had every chance. Not up to them."
Rhys McLeod (Ethiopia) 13th: "Disappointing."
Tommy Berry (Glencadam Gold) 14th: "Walked out of the gates, got smashed at the winning post and that was the end of him."
Luke Nolen (Manighar) 15th: "We had a lovely run. He was just very one-paced from the corner onwards."
Corey Brown (My Quest For Peace) 16th: "He's just got no turn of foot on that sort of ground."
Brenton Avdulla (Waldpark) 17th: "Very disappointing. Ended up with a pretty sweet run in transit but he found nothing from the half mile."
Kerrin McEvoy (Julienas) 18th: "I had a nice run but he just didn't stretch out when the pressure was applied."
