Sprint Classic field attracts 14 runners

Wednesday 6 November 2013, 1:50pm

A field of 14 has accepted for the $1 million VRC Sprint Classic at Flemington on Saturday.

The famous straight-course race will include Hong Kong's international star Lucky Nine which has appropriately drawn barrier nine.

Trainer Caspar Fownes described Lucky Nine as below top condition before the sprinter ran a close second to Buffering in the Manikato Stakes at Moonee Valley.

Buffering will be a rival again on Saturday with the popular Queensland horse to start from the rails.

Fontelina, a winner over the course last Saturday, has drawn gate six while the Darley sprinter Epaulette returns to carnival racing from barrier two.

The Jason Warren-trained Bel Sprinter has stall 10.
