A mare with a reputation as a barrier rogue provided her trainer with a fitting reward for his persistence by scoring a breakthrough win at Eagle Farm on Wednesday.
Revacious has tested Barry Baldwin's patience more than once in the past year.
But knowing how much ability the mare possessed, Baldwin never gave up on her making it to the track.
Revacious justified Baldwin's faith by winning the Bollinger Handicap (1000m).
"It's been a long process to get her to the track but hopefully she might've turned the corner," he said.
Baldwin believes the mare's behaviour has improved as she has matured.
"This time in she's been a bit more sensible and she's always shown plenty of ability on the track," he said.
"Early on she won a few jump-outs but when we got her to the races earlier this year she pulled up shin sore and I had to tip her out and start all over again."
Jockey Chris Munce told Baldwin he believed Revacious would be better suited in races longer than 1000 metres.
Trainer Tony Gollan was quick to praise apprentice Priscilla Schmidt after All Taken ended a frustrating losing sequence in the Oztronics Handicap (1200m).
"Priscilla rides him every day in trackwork and she was aggressive today getting him outside the leader and he was too strong," Gollan said.
"He's been carrying topweight a lot of times lately because of his consistency and the key with him is getting him down in the weights.
"That's why I put him in a Class Four today and with Priscilla's claim he got down to 54.5kg which, for him, was a reasonable weight."
Schmidt said she was confident All Taken would win after partnering the gelding in trackwork at Eagle Farm last Saturday.
"He had a really good gallop on Saturday morning which brought him right on for today," she said.
"In the past he's been a bit fractious in the gates but he was much better behaved today and raced accordingly."
