Jim Cassidy stands down from weekend rides

Thursday 14 November 2013, 5:07pm

Jim Cassidy won't ride in Sydney this weekend after aggravating a rib cartilage injury.

The top jockey, who brought up his 100th Group One win aboard Zoustar during the Melbourne spring carnival, stood himself down from riding after the first race at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.

He has since confirmed to stewards that he won't be fit to fulfil his bookings at Canterbury on Friday night or Rosehill on Saturday.

Cassidy suffered the rib cartilage injury when one of Zoustar's owners, Sheriff Iskander, gave him an over-exuberant bear hug following the colt's Coolmore Stud Stakes victory.
