Territory's fourth trainer Jarrod Austin has managed to coax the first win in more than three years out of the well-bred six-year-old.
The Warwick Farm-based Austin is Territory's fourth trainer and the gelding's win at Randwick on Saturday capped a busy and profitable couple of days for the stable.
The Austin-trained Hirokin won at Orange on Friday and Trafalgar Belle scored at Hawkesbury.
But the win of Territory in the 1150m benchmark 85 was the most satisfying for Austin who is his fourth trainer with Lee Freedman preparing him to a Listed win in October 2010.
"He's had plenty of issues with his legs and also wind problems," Austin said.
"But he has so much talent and is a lovely animal.
"When he was younger he ran some great races against good horses.
"He's a lot tougher now and his action is a lot better and it's just been a great couple of days."
Nathan Berry brought Territory ($9.50) through the pack to overhaul Agister ($26) by a long neck with Monbazillac ($9.50) a half head third.
"I haven't missed a gallop on this horse," Berry said.
"I've ridden him throughout his whole preparation every morning. All of his fast work anyway.
"So it's definitely put the icing on top of the cake winning today.
"I'm so very happy for Jarrod. Gee, what a horseman."
The three winners in 24 hours are a boost for Austin who lost his best horse Urquidez earlier this year to a Hong Kong offer to good to refuse for his owner Denise McGrath.
Now racing as Imperial Champion for Caspar Fownes, Urquidez finished second to subsequent Group One winner Rebel Dane in the Royal Sovereign Stakes in February at his last start for Austin.
