The trainer-jockey combination which took Hot Danish to Group One glory enjoyed success at Canterbury on Wednesday.
But there could have easily been even more reason to celebrate.
Jockey Tim Clark and veteran trainer Les Bridge combined in three races for a win with Lofty Ambition and minor placings with Mahatma and Bilyana.
Both Bridge-trained placegetters looked to be winning chances 100 metres from the line, only to be run down late in their respective races.
Three-year-old Lofty Ambition ($3.40) took advantage of his inside draw in the Australian Turf Club Handicap (1250m) to lead throughout to beat the favourite Habsburg ($3.20).
The Peter Snowden-trained colt was two lengths adrift with another three-quarters of a length to Jason Coyle's third-placed Takewing ($8).
Such was the character shown by Lofty Ambition, even his trainer was taken by surprise.
"I always had him as a mile (or) mile-and-a-quarter horse but he's sprinting pretty good - he doesn't even look like a sprinter," Bridge said.
Clark, who rode Hot Danish in most of her 16 wins, including her 2010 Group One victories in the All Aged Stakes and Doomben 10,000, said Lofty Ambition had more to offer.
"He's still pretty green, and a bit raw," Clark said.
"But hopefully this preparation he can have a few nice, confidence-boosting wins and learn his trade a bit."
