Moloney loses appeal against suspension

Thursday 28 November 2013, 1:44pm

Leading Victorian apprentice Patrick Moloney will spend the next three weeks on the sidelines after failing in an appeal against one of two careless riding bans.

Moloney was outed for 16 meetings at Kyneton last Friday and again for 10 meetings the following day at Moonee Valley.

The 19-year-old appealed against the conviction and penalty of the Kyneton ban but the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board dismissed that appeal on Thursday.

An early pacesetter in this season's Melbourne apprentices' premiership, Moloney has to serve his Kyneton suspension before starting his Moonee Valley ban.

He can return to race riding on December 20.
