Gai Waterhouse is so much more than a Melbourne Cup-winning trainer - she's become the "Cups queen".
Waterhouse, still basking in the lights of fame after her horse Fiorente won Australia's richest race, awarded herself the royal title in the third person at Rosehill on Saturday.
Her gelding Travolta, the $3.10 favourite, had just added to her Flemington glory with a classy win in the ATC Cup (2000m).
"And the Ballarat (Cup), I should say," Waterhouse said of her recent victories.
"She's the Cups queen isn't she."
Travolta led all the way to take the race by a solid 2-1/4 lengths with Tommy Berry aboard, in front of Hoylonny ($8.50) and Secessio ($4.60).
It was an impressive performance from the five-year-old who is on his second race back after a spell and had stepped up to the 2000m distance from a 1350m run two weeks ago.
Waterhouse said moving up to 2400m over the summer should be no problem for the gelding who is back in form after "losing the plot".
Berry said while Travolta clearly displayed fitness there was still a question mark over whether he could cut it over the longer distance.
"We'll definitely try him at it. But he's one of those horses who runs 2000 metres that strong, and you think he's going to get further but he might not," Berry said.
