Class Cambridge mare Lady Kipling will seek a long-awaited Group One victory in the next two months before her pregnancy forces her into retirement.
The Savabeel mare has three Group victories to her credit, the latest coming in the Group Three Eagle Technology Stakes (1600m) at Ellerslie on Saturday.
But four placings have been her share to date at Group One level, a situation her connections hope she will rectify in the Zabeel Classic (2000m) at Ellerslie on Boxing Day or the Thorndon Mile (1600m) at Trentham in late January.
"She's just a very good horse and so honest," co-trainer Murray Baker said.
"She's been a beautiful mare to train and if they were all like her it would be easy."
Lady Kipling settled close to the pace for jockey Leith Innes at Ellerslie on Saturday and had too many guns in the straight for Postmans Daughter.
It was the second stakes victory in two days for Innes on a daughter of Savabeel after he won the Group Three Wellington Stakes at Otaki aboard Lucia Valentina.
Lady Kipling is in foal to Coolmore stallion Rip Van Winkle who stands the southern hemisphere season in New Zealand.
