That's the winning formula trainer Bruce Hill hopes Startsmeup can achieve when he chases back-to-back victories in the Group Three George Moore Stakes (1200m) at Doomben on Saturday.
Startsmeup was a narrow winner of last year's Moore when the race was held at Eagle Farm but this year's renewal returns to its traditional home at Doomben.
The five-year-old returns to the stables of Hill who trained him for the first two years of his career before he was transferred to Gillian Heinrich.
Under Heinrich's care, Startsmeup won four races including last year's Moore.
John Meagher took over the training of Startsmeup in April but the gelding returned to Hill's stables after three unplaced runs in Melbourne during the spring carnival.
Hill is happy with the progress Startsmeup has made in his lead-up to Saturday's race.
"I gave him a jump-out last week and I thought he went really well," he said.
Startsmeup is drawn awkwardly in barrier 11 but Hill isn't concerned.
"He's won from wide barriers before and he's the sort of horse who can make his own luck in races," he said.
Brad Stewart, who rode Startsmeup in last year's Moore, will again be aboard the gelding on Saturday.
Anthony Allen will be reunited with Delago Bolt in the Moore after the gelding finished an unlucky fourth, with Hugh Bowman aboard, at Flemington on November 7.
"Doomben is this horse's favourite track and Anthony knows the way he has to be ridden," Lyons said.
"We had the option of going to the Starlight Stakes at Rosehill last week but Hugh thought running in this race with a month between runs was the way to go."
Allen was the regular rider of Delago Bolt during his autumn and winter carnival campaign before Bowman took over for three rides during the spring.
