In his time as head trainer for Darley Australia, Peter Snowden has become used to seeing some of his best horses head to stud, the northern hemisphere or both.
The next batch bound for Sheikh Mohammed's Godolphin operation are due to leave shortly with Caulfield Guineas winner Long John among the team bound for Dubai.
But Snowden still has unfinished business in Australia with Group One winners Complacent and Guelph who will head his autumn Group One contenders.
After the Sydney autumn carnival, Snowden will leave Darley to start a new and much smaller independent training venture with his son Paul who has been his Melbourne foreman for almost six years.
But it's business as usual until then and Snowden has the $2 million Australian Derby in mind for Complacent and options aplenty for Guelph.
"Complacent comes back this week and Guelph been back two weeks," Snowden said.
"Complacent is very talented and the best Derby prospect I've had in a long time.
"He will to his autumn racing in Sydney and go through the Randwick and Rosehill Guineas.
"We haven't worked out the program for Guelph yet."
Complacent finished second to the Robbie Laing-trained Polanski in the Victoria Derby at the sixth start of his first preparation while Guelph recorded Group One wins three and four in the Flight Stakes and Thousand Guineas during the spring.
One horse Snowden has managed to keep is eight-year-old Pinwheel who has been at Crown Lodge as long as his trainer.
A multiple stakes winner and Group One placegetter, stable favourite Pinwheel is also being prepared for an autumn campaign.
"He will be back this week after a short let-up," Snowden said.
"We'll work out where he runs over the next few weeks.
"He will be winning before I leave."
