Sistine Demon has come a long way since starting his winning streak in a race at Donald last month.
That humble victory laid the foundation for three consecutive city wins, including Saturday's Skipton Handicap at Flemington, where he held off a flying Quick Snitzel to score by a half head.
In typical fashion, Sistine Demon, the $3 favourite, led from the start and by the turn had established a two-length advantage.
The Peter Moody-trained Quick Snitzel ($5) came from midfield with Gig ($8) 2-1/2 lengths back third.
Trainer Andrew Noblet hates resting in-form horses but two wins at Flemington in seven days may be enough to have earned Sistine Demon a spell on the water walker.
"I had my heart in my mouth for the last two strides but he held on for a tough win," said Noblet.
"I'll see how he is during the week - I don't want to push the level too high and too far for him.
"We might even have a week or two on the water walker and see where we go from there."
In the Comic Court Handicap, Free Of Doubt ($6.50) managed to edge away from Hirad to win by three quarters of a length.
Trainer Jason Petch said Free Of Doubt could line up in the $120,000 Listed Lord Stakes at Mornington on Sunday week.
"We'll see how he pulls up," Petch said.
