Motherhood and training horses go hand in hand for Kristen Buchanan who has celebrated her first Saturday metropolitan winner at Rosehill.
The consistent Two Blue finally broke through in the De Bortoli Wines (1500m) after three city seconds with Buchanan clutching seven-month old daughter Mackenzie Rose as she tried to contain her emotions.
"She is a very tenacious horse and it's great to see her get this win," Buchanan said.
"It's my first Saturday win in town and it's an awesome feeling.
"And it's such a great thing for the owners who bred the mare themselves."
Two Blue ($5) led all the way under Blake Shinn and fought off the challenge from Reflectance ($7.50) to win by a half length with Rowie ($6) another 1-1/2 lengths third.
Buchanan has been based at Wyong for the past four years after learning her trade with leading Perth trainer Neville Parnham.
"It's hard to fit in being a mother and training but my partner also works from home so we manage," she said.
"We keep a team of around ten to twelve in work."
Buchanan said she would consider backing Two Blue up in next Friday's Belle Of The Turf Stakes (1600m) at Gosford.
"We'll see how she pulls up but she's in form so we may well give her a go at it," she said.
