Gai Waterhouse has paid the highest price so far at this year's Magic Millions sale, buying a Redoute's choice colt for $1 million.
Waterhouse bought the colt, which is out of Hades, on behalf of Americans Jon and Sarah Kelly.
"Jon Kelly is a gentleman from America who is here with his wife and they have bred and owned horses all over the world, but have never invested in Australia before," Waterhouse told Sky Racing.
"Hopefully this will be the beginning of a wonderful relationship."
Shortly after Waterhouse bought the colt, Coolmore set a new top price for a filly this year, paying $700,000 for a daughter of Fastnet Rock from Group One winner Headway.
The Gold Coast sale is in its third day.
