Dean Yendall consistently rides winners all over Victoria and gets the chance to post just his second stakes win for the season on favourite Anlon at Flemington.
Yendall partners the Darren Weir-trained Anlon in Saturday's Listed Chester Manifold Stakes (1400m) and is keen to make the most of the opportunity having ridden the gelding to a strong win at the same track on New Year's Day.
The jockey has ridden 67 winners for the season in Victoria to be second on the statewide premiership behind Brad Rawiller.
Seven of those winners have been in town with his sole stakes win for the season coming on subsequent Group One winner Polanski during the spring.
Yendall partnered Polanski to win the Listed UCI Stakes at Flemington, two starts before the Robbie Laing-trained colt won the Group One Victoria Derby with Hugh Bowman aboard.
Anlon has been installed favourite for Saturday's $120,000 event on the back of his victory over the Chris Waller-trained import He's Your Man over the same course and distance on January 1 when he showed a strong turn of foot to come from the back of the field.
"It was a good effort to come from the position he did, back in the field and stuck on the rail needing a bit of luck," Yendall said.
"When I did get out the horse motored to the line well.
"I can't see why, all going well, he couldn't be competitive in that field tomorrow.
"It's not overly strong."
The Peter Snowden-trained Limes is second favourite behind Anlon and Yendall pinpointed the Darley galloper as the hardest to beat.
Limes was second in Sydney's summer feature, the Group Two Villers Stakes, on December 14 before winning over 1400m at Rosehill a week later.
Anlon, winner of six of his 24 starts, is facing his first test in stakes company.
The field was reduced from 11 to 10 on Friday with the scratching of the Anthony Freedman-trained Reparations.
Chase The Rainbow wears concussion plates in Saturday's race having finished at the tail of the field in his comeback in the Christmas Stakes at Caulfield in bar plates.
Trainer Rick Hore-Lacy was fined $200 for not informing stewards the horse was to wear bar plates in the Christmas Stakes on Boxing Day, with the shoes only noticed by stewards shortly before the race.
