BRISBANE February 6 AAP - Hard work is the catalyst for the recent run of success for trainer Len Treloar and apprentice Geoff Goold who were in the winner's circle again on Wednesday.
The Caloundra-based Treloar-Goold combination had their sixth winner in the past month and their fourth in two weeks when In The Sky Rocket ($8) won the Mullins Lawyers Hcp (1030m) at Doomben.
Goold, 31, is one of the oldest apprentices in Australia and has been riding trackwork every morning for Treloar with the pair working hard on his riding style.
"It is amazing you know - the harder you work the better the results. That sums up Geoff," Treloar said.
"We have been working on a few things such as judging tempo and getting horses to settle and travel comfortably.
"What Geoff has been doing in track work he has been doing in races and it is paying off. One of his big pluses is his maturity and his ability to listen."
Goold has now ridden 12 city winners this season and is rapidly moving towards outriding his 2kg allowance.
In The Sky Rocket is raced by Evan Hartley's Dovedeen syndicate which has 12 horses with Treloar.
It was a good training performance from Treloar because In The Sky Rocket was having his first start in a year.
"He ran some good races behind the top two year olds last season. We have had a few little problems with him since but he is back now," Treloar said.
Meanwhile, trainer Lindsay Gough believes a lot of minor things added up to Gala Affair ($8) winning the Hidden Dragon @Lyndhurst Hcp (1350m).
"At her last start she pulled a off shoe and didn't have much luck at all. She had a claim today, we added blinkers and she was able to race a lot closer," Gough said.
